This bargain basement version of a ball bearing compass is not a work of art. It is made cheaply by stamping sheet-metal together. But fortunately, a compass does not need to withstand large forces in normal usage and this one works perfectly well for its purpose. The ball bearing design makes changing radius a cinch, while the pencil clamp is firm. For a student in geometry, this is the last compass he will need.
